ABOUT US

ABOUT US

What is the ideal size of an independent development office? We think: Ours. At 360 Engineering, we have experts from invigoratingly diverse cultures and careers working on every aspect of a project, from design to manufacturing. We’ve got enough co-workers to form project-based teams, but not so many that it becomes impossible to further develop as a team.

We’ve got strong-minded team players working for us who can think for themselves – in the office, at the customer’s and out in the open: it’s no coincidence that 360 Engineering is located in the Bavarian mountains, where the test ride starts right on the other side of the road. We live what we work for.

ANDRÉ-PHILIPP BODNER

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

André makes splinters fall. He knows how to drill and turn and has an engineering degree, too. This makes him a competent contact for written stuff like orders just as well as for hands-on work like the “avalanche shovel” project on which he was in charge of the list of requirements, the design coordination, 3D model construction, production data, construction drawing – and of course of some test shovelling with prototypes… His wide field of competence makes André a reliable partner in every project phase.

LUCA BURZIO

PRODUCTDEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN

“Racing is important to develop products further,” says Luca – and leads by example: he has already successfully completed some pretty tough international enduro bike races. The industrial designer naturally likes the fact that the bikes don’t always stay in contact with the ground, because he is also an aeronautical engineer. But when it comes to development projects, Luca is very down to earth. Thanks to his extensive experience as chief designer and development engineer, he combines good design and practical feasibility.

LUCA KOHLBECKER

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Wide field of interests instead of tunnel vision: A degree in sports and health technology is great. But what furthermore makes Luca a perfect fit for our team is his curiosity when it comes to everyday (work) life and the rest of the world. You can tell that the spirit is right, when someone refurbishes a VW camper van as a school project, is into competitive trial biking and delves into the detailed development of shoe-pedal friction and the loads on a mountain bike frame in action at university.

BENJAMIN FUCHS

CONSULTING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Before Benjamin joined the 360 Engineering team, the trained engineer had been our customer for years. Finally, the time had come to change sides: Benni is a multi-talent. Skilful in 3D drawing, creative in parts development – and in the end he is the one who makes a project description out of a bunch of emails and suggestions. He has a good overview from a solid base.

MANUEL HERNDLER

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN

What do you get when you combine a degree in engineering and industrial design with a spare-time passion for architecture? Something good. In Manuel’s case, technical solutions that also live up to aesthetic demands. Manuel works his magic with his digital tools until he himself is just as satisfied with the result as the customer. Then he’d actually be done with his job. But for him, a project only really feels finished when he holds the first series samples in his hands.

VINCENT HILLE

PROTOTYPING AND TESTING

Vincent is as hands-on as you can be. From rough work to finetuning, from constructing walls and connecting machines on the one hand to test handling with strain gauges and test benches on the other – Vincent is a master of everything that requires some technical skills and thinking.

MARION VON MENGERSHAUSEN

PERSONNEL WORK AND TEAM ASSISTANCE

Marion seems to be made for bookkeeping and personnel work. The trained
business economist is in control of things – once you’ve learned something …
The fact that she remains confident and cheerful even when things get busy is
on the one hand due to her professional experience made in a business
consultancy, on the other hand to a very personal additional qualification of
being a mother of five. She recharges her batteries with hiking, cross-country
skiing, or mountain biking.

JAMES TAYLOR

CONSULTING AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Just before the turn of the millennium, James “Jimmy” had already shone with a product design: his easy-to-use handheld GPS device made it into the final round of an English design competition. At the time, Jimmy was still a university student and a pretty good cyclist. His speciality: mountain time trials, overnight marathons, orienteering races … Disciplines that require special skills that Jimmy has also worked on in his job and, though being a product designer, also immersed himself in construction technology. To know a little more than you need to has never done any harm, has it?

THOMAS TRAPP

CONSULTING AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Thomas is an expert when it comes to composite development and manufacturing, as well as integration of design and engineering. He’s not just any expert, though, but rather THE expert. He has proved this for years at a very large, very sporty bike brand: bikes he designed and developed frames and components for won several design awards. As he wanted to re-focus on actual development, he quit as the brand’s chief engineer, and soon after ended up at 360 Engineering: back to hands-on work. Back to where things progress in a low-loss way and concepts quickly turn into innovative products.

SYLVIO WIESE

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

On his screens Sylvio turns design specifications into data packages for production – and into fancy 3D presentations with weightlessly rotatable and scalable drawings. Sounds like a nerd? Sylvio isn’t. On the contrary: in several years of bike rental experience on the Canary Islands and as a team mechanic in the Bike World Cup, he’s probably gained more real-world experience than many people do in a lifetime. He can almost sense what parts will feel like in real life when he designs them at 360 Engineering.

CAROLIN WÖLK

CONTROLLING

To simply label Carolin as “the boss’s wife” would be a stark understatement. She doesn’t need a slipstream to keep up. Carolin had been kicking up dust for years as a semi-professional mountain biker while at the same time she was working as a management assistant in the sports industry. At 360 Engineering she keeps an eye on the numbers. If her voice crackles a little on the phone, it may be due to a poor signal out there, somewhere on a mountain.

TIMO WÖLK

CONSULTING AND MANAGEMENT

He could have printed “Founder and President” in golden letters on his business cards, but this is not Timo’s style. No frills, but full focus on the goal. He’s already acted on this maxim at the turn of the millennium, when he became German cross-country champion in the under-23 age group, and never stopped: during his engineering studies, Timo gained experience as a developer in the bike industry before setting up his own project with 360 Engineering in 2006. Dynamism and vision are also the basic ingredients of his sporting passions: biking, kite surfing, surfing, ski touring… The main thing is that things move forward and remain exciting.
